Luke Houba
Luke Houba is a Cape Town-based photographer who specializes in documentary and fashion photography, frequently working with internationally recognised brands; Woolworths, Mr. Price, and Truworths.
For this project, I had the opportunity to work with my close friend Luke to build a website that could showcase his amazing photos and serve as a portfolio to expand his already impressive client list. Luke provided me with a list of excellent references to work with, which allowed me to immediately begin designing the site using Figma.
To improve the functionality of the site and give Luke the option to direct clients to specific categories, we decided to classify his work into separate URLs for fashion, children, and documentary.
From a technical perspective, I had to optimize the images to ensure that the site's performance was not compromised, since there were so many photos. Additionally, we needed a way to allow for the simultaneous uploading of multiple images and the manual ordering of Webflow CMS items (easy if you have 5 items, hard if you have 50+). To solve these issues, we utilized the capabilities of Airtable, which allows Luke to upload multiple images at a time, sort them, and publish the site all from one platform, Airtable. Rad! 📸
